I ran across this video this morning.. I'm such the airhead, I honestly can't remember if I've shared it before? It's an AWESOME illustration of how BIG, how LOVING, how MIGHTY, and how PERSONAL our GOD is!
So glad that you got away for your retreat. I've not walked in your shoes and can only imagine with deep sadness the pain that losing Brett has brought you all. Keep clinging to HIM and I know he will show you where he wants you. Tonya, you are precious. Your son was precious. He taught us all so much about faith in his life that I am humbled just thinking about it. I will pray that you Bow your Will to your heavenly father no matter what is asked of you. Blessings dear one.
I'm sorry. I misspelled his name in that last comment. Here I wanted it to sound just right and then I did that. So so sorry.
I also wanted to let you know that we are actually going to be flying when we travel down this summer to my sisters. Originally we were going to drive and you and I had talked about meeting up. Not sure if that will be possible with the plans she has for us. I can e-mail the details later but wanted to let you know. I'm bummed. :(
This is a long section but it's filled with such words of comfort....praying right now! Revelation 21:1-7 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You! 4 Trust in the Lordalways, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.

Brent's Story...
Our son Brent suddenly started to complain with back pain in the fall of 2004. He was playing flag football with the town league and loved to roughhouse with his two younger brothers so the pain was dismissed at first. After having him tested for kidney and bladder infections and finding him clear we finally asked for an MRI of his back. A couple of weeks later (the very day of the MRI) we received a phone call from his doctor saying that a tumor was found in his pelvic area. We were asked how quickly we could get him to St. Jude Children's Hospital - we left IMMEDIATELY. Later that same week we got the diagnosis. It was one that we would NEVER, EVER forget. It was Stage IV Neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system. His chances of survival when diagnosed were 1/4 - 1/3. When he relapsed we were reminded there was NO CURE. There was basically no hope of survival... none outside the HOPE we had in JESUS.
Brent fought long and hard. He was a Christian and LOVED his SAVIOR. He NEVER asked "why" or complained. He took each day as it was - a gift from GOD. Brent went HOME to be with the LORD on January 2, 2007. He was 11 years old. If I've EVER had a "hero" in this world.... it would be him.
7I will bless the LORD who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. 8I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely.
