In EvEeRyThInG give THANKS... "WFW"

For more posts on this "WFW" check out The 160 Acre Woods

Now.. for some of what we've been up to here...

What's all of that you ask?? Well, it's our line of defense against some of the most DREADFUL creatures you'll ever find! (I'm slightly stretching it... hehe) I think the birds are called "barn swifts." They build MUD nests just under the edges of our porch and raise their babies there. You think that's sweet? I used to... until I saw the ENORMOUS mess they make when those "babies" hatch and start growing.. ICK!) Did I mention how GROSS that is???

Anyway... the boys and I had a fantastic idea. (Or so we thought) The thought was if we put something really SCARY up there.. the birds would go away and build somewhere else, right?? WRONG! They seemed a bit confused at first... flying up, seeing the little monsters, kicking it into reverse, then back again.

Then... it happened... they overthrew godzilla! (As you can see, he wasn't very happy about it either... HA!!!)

What'd we do??? WE put godzilla back in his spot along with a rubber snake in behind him. We thought he needed someone (or something) to "have his back." What did the birds do??? They've started putting mud on both the snake AND godzilla!

What to do?? What to DO???? Any suggestions??? LOL!! (As you probably all know already, if you click on the pictures it will enlarge them.. check out the really dark picture.. YES, that's the birds standing on the toys... LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY at us! Well, probably not, but it sure feels like it)

Catching up...

Okay.. so I've been saying I'd fill you in on what we've been doing. I finally have a moment and if you do too then grab your favorite beverage and get COMFY! This may take a while. HA!!!

On the most serious of notes (and to get the bad out of the way first) I told you that last week I'd been in a "slump." Well, there was another "milestone" in our walk without Brent that we had to cross. See, the church where he was laid to rest had it's "Memorial" this past Sunday. I knew it was coming and my mood seemed to be all over the place.

Brent, Zach & Gabe all used to go every year with their grandpa to clean the family grave sites. I don't want it to sound morbid when I say it was something the boys enjoyed doing. It wasn't "fun" to hang at the cemetery... it was FUN because they were hanging with their grandpa. (And at the time there was NOBODY that they had ever known or loved buried there.. until now)

So this year Link went with his dad to clean up and we (Link & I) took the boys back on Saturday to put new flowers out. It's an INCREDIBLY hard thing to do. I KNOW that our boy isn't REALLY there - he's doing whatever it is that the "saints" do when they get to HEAVEN. (I'm assuming that's sitting at the feet of JESUS, or BOWING in PRAISE?) All that really matters is that he's EXPERIENCING LIFE like we can't even imagine here. He's not hurting or sick and we WILL see him again! (GLORY!)

See, we take care of things "up there" (at the cemetery) out of love and respect... but it's not to "go visit." Brent is MORE ALIVE to me when I'm at home remembering all of his funny antics or the special times he'd walk up, put his arms around me and tell me that he loved me. (And also those moments that I'd find the boys actually being sweet to each other... THOSE memories are PRICELESS) Thanks to JESUS, the grave isn't the end! (It may seem to be to people that aren't "believers" but as Christians we know it's TRULY THE BEGINNING)

So... that catches us up on why I tried so hard to keep my mind busy last week... and why I spent so little time online. Believe me, you guys were MISSED! =-) While I'm sharing stories about the 3 boys, I've got another picture I'd like to share. It was taken of them not long after we moved into our new house...

Okay, I thought I'd share more in this post, but if I do it's going to be really, REALLY LONG! I'll share the funny pictures I mentioned in my last update and the story behind them the next time I post.

THANKS SO MUCH for stopping in and for the prayers that many of you have lifted for our family. GOD is TRULY our STRENGTH, JOY, AND HOPE!

Until next time...

Baby Showers for an Angel ;-)

I know I said I'd update on what we've been up to.. and well, part of it is baby showers. LOL! I was blessed to be able to help give a shower for my hubby's baby sister (Elizabeth) and her husband Jason. (I'm sure she loves me calling her that?) O=-) Allie Grace was a DOLL that night and I was SO HAPPY to get some shots of her. I also took LOTS of people that were at the shower, but since I don't like pictures of myself posted online (without my prior approval) I don't like to do that to anyone else. So that explains why you don't see people there. I'm sure you can see by the mountain of gifts that there were many who came by to wish this sweet little family well. (Jason & Elizabeth are SO LOVED)

I'll try to check back tomorrow with an update on our little family and share some funny pics of what the boys and I have been doing here. (Link's staying busy too... he just doesn't get into as much nonsense as the boys & I do) LOL!

The bond between brothers..

Hello Friends.. once again, long time, no talk. Today has been Monday ALL DAY LONG (being sarcastic) HA!! Seriously though, I've had very little time to play.

I was looking through some pictures for an upcoming task and found these of Brent & Zach together. They were the VERY BEST of buds! You can CLEARLY SEE that Zach is RIGHT UNDER Brent in that big ole bed. Link & I always thought it was so cute that they'd "fight and carry on" all day, but when it got time to settle down they'd be found RIGHT BESIDE each other. I just LOVE to find pictures that show the AMAZING bond between them. =-)

Okay... I'm off again to TRY and finish up so that I can PLAY online a little more tomorrow. I'm WAY behind on responding to my comments.. I DO APPRECIATE each one and always try to visit each of you and leave one as well. I PROMISE to fill you in on what's been going on with us soon. (Busy has been a VERY GOOD thing) =-)

See you soon....

Our smiling dog...

Hello, Everyone..

This is the longest I've been without posting in a while. I've been in a slump this week... sometimes things go really well, others... well, I just keep myself busy. I hope to get online tomorrow and make a slide from Elizabeth's baby shower (I've got lots & LOTS of pictures of Allie Grace!) I'll probably also check in to see what the theme is for "FFF."

Until then, I thought I'd share some funny pics of our little doggy, Spanky. I was ATTEMPTING to make some new pics of the boys, but... well, they weren't so photogenic that day. However, Spanky on the other hand... WAS! He looked as though he was smiling in every shot. (Even laughing in another) I get cracked up every time I look at these.. I hope they make you smile too! (I'll share those of the boys later.. will probably do a slide of them too)

Smile, Spanky...

This one cracks me up too. He looks like he's bullying a MUCH larger dog...

If you'll enlarge this photo (by clicking on it) you'll see that Spanky won this round.. he's chasing the big dog back to the house. (Too funny)

Finally, this is Spanky looking all sweet and innocent... he's SUCH a CUTIE!

My kid needs glasses...

Hello, FRIENDS!

I'm going to just ramble a bit today.. I'll jump back in on the "memes" later this week. I wanted to share a little "funny" on our Zach. (He's the 10 year old)

Okay... so the other day we'd been in and out cleaning and doing yard work. Zach had gone out the back door for something and came back in pretty quickly telling me he'd seen "a rat with no tail."

See, we have strange little creatures all around us. (We live out in the country - well, kinda) Usually the way we find most of those creepy, I mean, poor little creatures, they've already fallen in our pool. We've pulled out a few baby snakes (dead ones, they'd been in the skimmer a while), a bat, a few mice, a mole or two, lizards, a bird.. hhmmm... can't think of anything else at the moment. (That's enough though, RIGHT?) ICK! We also have every bug known to man stumble over into the cement pond, I mean pool. (Remember the Beverly Hillbillies?? LOL!!) Oh... sorry... ADD kicked in.. forgot where I was going with that! O=-)

SOOOOOOOO... Zach comes in to tell me that he saw the rat with no tail. The next thing I know he's taken a piece of cheese out and has put it on the concrete. I asked what he planned to do with that and he told me he was going to catch him. (EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW) After Zach told Link (my hubby - his daddy) about the weird little rat, Link remembered that he'd seen this little creature too. He told Zach it was a baby RABBIT! (I'm thinking it's time to take this kid to the eye doctor!???) HA!!!

I wish I'd have gotten a picture of the cute little thing, but my guy folks were too excited about trying to CATCH him. (He was ADORABLE)

I'm still trying to figure out how he could've mistaken what it was? Cute bunny??? (AAAWWWWWWWW)

...... RAT??? (EEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!) I'd have NO problems telling the difference, would YOU?

Okay, I'm off to set up an appointment with the eye doctor. (HeeHee) JUST KIDDING! Seriously though, I'm going to go get these boys started on their school work. Before you go I'd like to invite you to read over an email I received from the "American Family Association," then if you'd like you can sign the petition below. =-)

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by! =-)

The rights of Christians are under attack again! Consider what has happened just in the last week:

  • In New Jersey, East Brunswick High School officials told football coach Marcus Borden he cannot kneel and bow his head while members of his team have a student-led pre-game prayer. (source)

  • In Wisconsin’s Tomah Area School District, a teacher refused to give a student identified only as A.T. a grade on an art project because his work included "John 3:16" as well as "A sign of love." However, Buddha, Hindu and sorcerers are considered “approved” forms of art by the school. (source)

  • In Mt. Vernon, Ohio, school leaders told teacher John Freshwater he must put his Bible out of sight when students are in his room. Mr. Freshwater has refused to do so. He has had a Bible on his desk for the past 18 years. (source)

    Take Action!
Join AFA in expressing appreciation to the two teachers and student mentioned above for their bold stand. Despite overwhelming pressure, Marcus, A.T. and John are standing firm in defending our rights.

Sign our “Petition of Appreciation!”. Help us gather one million signatures supporting these three individuals for standing strong for our religious freedoms. AFA will present a Plaque of Appreciation to each of them, which will include your name and state (no address).

Then Sings My Soul Saturdays

The song I chose for today is by Chris Tomlin. I don't know the history of the song, but it appears it was written around the old hymn, "Amazing Grace." The source of the song (on YouTube) labeled it as a movie trailer. It's not as fast pace and upbeat as I'd normally like to listen to, but the message is so powerful that it quickly became one of our favorites.

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)
Chris Tomlin

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine

You are forever mine

Yes, I've shared with some of you (individually) that we used this song at Brent's funeral. It's SO MUCH his testimony... especially the part that says, "My chains are GONE, I've been set FREE." This is one of those songs I probably won't be able to hear again without thinking of our precious boy. He was SO IN LOVE with his JESUS, PRAISING HIM CONSTANTLY in his last days with us. I hope and pray our boys NEVER forget his powerful testimony! =-)

Favorite Foto Friday #36 - Siblings (Also, "Tag, I'm it")

This "FFF" Sarah chose "Siblings" as her theme for posting. Of course I jumped right in on that one because I LOVE pictures of our boys TOGETHER. I'm not sure if I've used this pic here before or not? It's one of my favorites!

This one is obviously a bit older... our 3 boys and my dad. (They call him Butterball - don't worry, he's a trucker.. that's his "cb handle" LOL!)

For more "FFF" posts visit Sarah at Kiss The Frog 4 Me.

Now, before I sign off... My friend Kelley "tagged" me for a game over at her blog Aroma of Joy. I'm supposed to share 7 random facts about myself.... HHMMMMMMMMMMM... what to say?? LOL!

1. I'm not sure WHEN my salvation experience happened. I remember as a young girl my cousin came up and asked me during church if I wanted to be saved. (My grandmother told her that I'd been asking questions) I went down and prayed the sinner's prayer. There were several instances where I doubted my salvation and "went down" again. I've come to realize that what I was missing was a RELATIONSHIP with my LORD. How can we come to know and LOVE someone if we never spend any time with them? Yes, I admit it... I wasn't in the WORD or praying back then.

2. I've been married to my hubby for almost 16 years. I wanted babies almost immediately. (He didn't care - he was up for whatever I wanted) After almost 2 years of "trying" we were finally expecting our first baby. Lincoln Brent Nason was born on October 28, 1995. This boy fell IN LOVE with JESUS from the time he started talking. He was telling his little brothers and friends (while he himself was only 3-4 years old that they needed JESUS). We had our second boy on October 14, 1997. (Zachary David Nason) He was our little monkey. This one could, and still can climb a straight wall... LOL! When we were expecting our 3rd child, I carried my little niece with me to hear the baby's heartbeat. They couldn't find one. We learned that day that our baby had been dead for 3 weeks - I had a "DNC." (I never showed any signs of miscarriage.. I only found out the day of that doctor's appointment) Then, our 4th baby - Gabriel Reed Nason was born on October... SORRY! That's December 21, 2000. (I just reread my post and saw my mistake.. sorry) Link chose the name "Gabriel." When he suggested it I looked up the meaning. It is "God is my strength." From that moment we KNEW this would be his name. Gabe is our little charmer. He's SOOO MUCH like Brent that it's CRAZY! We're SO THANKFUL for this!

3. I was voted homecoming queen my senior year in high school. I LOVED the experience, but wouldn't turn back the clock for anything.

4. I have one sibling. Her name is Kerry... she's been my BEST FRIEND my whole life. (Only I didn't know it as kids because.... well, she WAS my sister after all) Image hosting by TinyPic It wasn't until we were both married and living separate lives that I realized what a TRUE friend I had in her. I'm SO THANKFUL that we live so close to each other.

5. I'm a bit of a hermit! I LOVE to be hanging out at HOME with my boys!

6. One of the dumbest things I've ever done?? I knew these girls that were twins. (Dana & Meredith) When telling Dana that our son's birthday was Oct. 14 she said, "Well, that's neat, mine is too." SOOOO... what do I do???? I call their home on their birthday and Meredith answers. She told me Dana was in the shower. I said, "I just called to wish her a happy birthday." (Never once even thinking that this was her TWIN that I was talking to) The very next year I was in the process of making the EXACT SAME mistake only to realize what I was was doing. I shouted, "OH NO!!!!!!! YOU'RE TWINS!!!!!!) Yeah, they got a big kick out of me. (I'm REALLY DITZY!)

7. I'm one of those who gets "star-struck" when in the midst of celebrities. We heard that Steven Segal's daughter was a St. Jude patient. We actually saw him there several times. (Which amused me TREMENDOUSLY) Don't worry, I never approached him. I knew he didn't wanna be there any more than we did. However, I TOTALLY STALKED Shane Battier (Memphis Grizzly player) and asked him for a picture. (Yes, there are A LOT of celebs that go through St. Jude every year just to meet and mingle with the kids) I once tried to get Brent to let me get his picture with the gentleman that does the Allstate commercials... he was like, "Mom, I'm TIRED of having my picture made with famous people) He was SO NOT AMUSED! (It was TOO CUTE)

Okay.. that was a bit long, but I was trying to think of things you might not know about me (or us).

For anyone else that would like to play along... here are the rules:

1) Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog
2) Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3) Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4) Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Thankful Thursday

Today I want to do my "Thankful Thursday" post on a person who is challenging the move towards Darwinism. As many of you have heard, Ben Stein has a new movie to be released this Friday. I've been getting quite a few emails from big Christian organizations encouraging everyone to GO and support this film.

Our country was founded on Christianity and FREEDOM of religion, yet every day we move another step away from the plan our founding fathers established. Now, rather than entertaining both creation and evolution - they want to get rid of creation altogether.

I've not seen this movie so I'm afraid to say it's "family friendly." If you'd like to go and read the review for yourself you can click HERE. The site I'm directing you is a part of Focus on the Family.

Anyway... I'll let you watch the movie trailer and see what you think.

I copied the "what people are saying" (just below) from one of those emails...

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:

"I recommend EXPELLED enthusiastically!"
- James C. Dobson, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board, Focus on the Family

"Four stars!" - Ted Baehr, Editor, MovieGuide

"A powerful and riveting film… every open-minded person will love it."
- Rev. Donald E. Wildmon, Founder & Chairman of American Family Association

"EXPELLED is an enormously important project."
- Michael Medved, national radio host

"We highly recommend EXPELLED to anybody."
- Ken Smitherman, President, Association of Christian Schools International

"SEE THIS FILM, bring your friends and bring your church."
- Lee Strobel, Author, Case for a Creator

"See EXPELLED and you'll understand why they want to censor those who question their dogmas." - Dr. Richard Land, Southern Baptist Convention

"Those who are suppressing belief in God and trying to make materialism the law of the land should beware. Ben Stein is on a mission to stop the suppression, and millions of Americans are behind him."
- Pat Robertson, Host, 700 Club

"In EXPELLED, Ben Stein shows us what happens when academic freedom takes a day off. We should all be listening."
- Carl Anderson, Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus

"EXPELLED is both an eye-opening documentary and riotous entertainment." - Joseph Farah, CEO, WorldNetDaily.com

"This movie may trigger a cultural revolution."
- Dennis Wagner, Executive Director, Access Research Network

"EXPELLED could easily be one of the most important movies of the year."
- Denny Rydberg, President, Young Life

"EXPELLED is earthshaking. I was absolutely blown away. Everyone in America, even skeptics of Intelligent Design, must see this film."
- J. Matt Barber, Director for Cultural Issues, Concerned Women for America

"A cultural earthquake... Everyone I talked to after the screening used words like 'fabulous' and 'incredible'." - Dr. Tom Woodward, Director, C.S. Lewis Society

"A solid case for giving the theory of Intelligent Design a respected place in the classroom alongside Darwin's theory of Evolution."
- Dick Rolfe, Co-Founder and CEO, The Dove Foundation

Tuesday's In Other Words

Oh, this is a BEAUTIFUL quote that my friend Susan chose for today. It does seem that the more I know about GOD, the more I find how much more there is to learn. We sometimes try to put HIM in this nice little box and if HE works outside those "lines" well, we don't know what to do with HIM. That's how it was for me when we lost Brent.

See, we'd been told that if we "believed" enough and didn't doubt that Brent would be healed. Well, when he wasn't I blamed myself and began to question everything I've ever been told about GOD. (Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing) I've dug so much deeper in HIS WORD, and I looked at things from a new perspective. I NO LONGER trust every little thing that someone else tells me about GOD. I "test" it against the WORD.

The more I've questioned, the more answers I've found - the MORE I want to know.

One thing I've learned is about witnessing. I've always been afraid to share the gospel because I thought I wasn't "trained" enough in the WORD. I've learned that there is no formula.

  • All I have to do is tell others what JESUS has done for me.

  • I need to share that HE is my EVERYTHING - that I can't go on without HIM

  • I should share how HE died for my sins and yours..

  • I should also share that JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY. There is NO OTHER NAME under HEAVEN. (Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other Name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved.")

  • The Bible says we should believe and confess. (Romans 10:8-10 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.)

THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY to get to HEAVEN but there are MANY ways to share the gospel. There are MANY ways to reach others. You don't HAVE to "take them to church" with you to lead others to Christ. If we follow our LORD'S example we would meet people where they are. (In the grocery store, at McDonald's, as we work along side them)

YES, our GOD is WAY TOO BIG for our little human minds to wrap around! We may not always understand HIS ways, but we can take comfort in knowing that HIS WAY IS BEST.

Until the return of CHRIST, we should be BUSY LIVING OUR LIVES as though JESUS HIMSELF is walking beside us EVERY MOMENT, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY... because HE IS.

Miracle Monday - Allie Grace's adoption is FINAL!

My "Miracle Monday" post will be SHORT & SWEET - it's all about Allie Grace. My sister-in-law (Elizabeth) and her hubby (Jason) went to court this morning. The adoption is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY OVER!

Allie Grace is the FOREVER child of Jason & Bibby! THANK YOU, JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a little over a month ago they were in the process of waiting for a "possible" baby. There had been a few times that it looked like it might happen, but each time it failed. Then.... "someone that knew someone" set them up with a couple from HERE! They met and instantly connected. (All of this was done outside of an adoption agency!) Is GOD ALL OVER THIS or what?????

Once again, I PRAISE OUR LORD for this beautiful little miracle HE'S given us!! I'd also like to thank those of you who've been praying for them. We are OH-SO-BLESSED!

We LOVE YOU, Allie Grace.... we're SO BLESSED to have you in our family!!!

Soapbox Sunday

Hello Friends...

I'm slacking on our new meme AGAIN. This week has been quite hectic and for the past few days I've just not been myself. With all of that said, I don't feel like thinking too much tonight. (LOL!! Sad, I KNOW!) I thought maybe this "SS" could just be light and fun??

SOOOOOO... My soapbox will be me, preaching to myself.

Our story begins with my Mom asking me if I had my hummingbird feeders out yet. She told me they were already swarming around hers. Well, I brought mine in, then cleaned and filled it. Our 7 year old (Gabe) was obviously drooling as I made the "juice."

Well, the boys had been working hard outside and I thought I'd bless them with some Kool-Aid. When Gabe first saw it, he exclaimed, "Look, Zach, Mom made us some hummingbird juice!" Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The moral of the story is... I'm OBVIOUSLY failing my job as Mom if my children don't even know what that sweet, fruity drink is! Image hosting by TinyPic HA!!

My point is this... I get so concerned with so many things that I sometimes forget GOD'S FIRST calling on my life is to be the keeper of my home. YES, I'm ABSOLUTELY to put HIM first in all I do... but the Bible CLEARLY tells me to be love my husband and children, to be busy at home, and to be subject to my hubby. (Among other things)

Titus 2:4-5

4Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

Okay, I'm not REALLY beating myself up over a drink for my kiddos, but there is a lesson to be learned. I do need to stop and make sure that EVERYTHING I'm doing HERE is what GOD wants and not necessarily what I want. (It's so easy to feel overwhelmed at times and neglect the people I love most)

I ESPECIALLY want our babes to have wonderful memories of their time as children at home. If I'm failing to do the job GOD has called me to do, then I'm failing two of the most important little people in my life. That's a lot from a glass of Kool-Aid, huh? Heehee... You should've heard the lesson I learned from our boys pet billy goat. HA!

Now, if you're posting on "Soapbox Sunday" then click the "Mr. Linky" logo below and sign your name. I hope this works.. I'm just playing around with it tonight and have NO IDEA how it'll turn out.

I've been challenged by my friend e-mom to play a little game. So as requested, here are my answers...

You Are An Exclamation Point

You are a bundle of... well, something.

You're often a bundle of joy, passion, or drama.

You're loud, brash, and outgoing. If you think it, you say it.

Definitely not the quiet type, you really don't keep a lot to yourself.

You're lively and inspiring. People love to be around your energy.

(But they do secretly worry that you'll spill their secrets without even realizing it.)

You excel in: Public speaking

You get along best with: the Dash

Then Sings My Soul Saturdays

Third Day \ Show Me Your Glory

I caught a glimpse of Your splendor
In the corner of my eye
The most beautiful thing I've ever seen
And it was like a flash of lightning
Reflected off the sky
And I know I'll never be the same

Show me Your glory
Send down Your presence
I want to see Your face
Show me Your glory
Majesty shines about You
I can't go on without You, Lord

When I climb down the mountain
And get back to my life
I won't settle for ordinary things
I'm gonna follow You forever
And for all of my days
I won't rest 'til I see You again

Show me Your glory
Show me Your glory
I can't live without You
