Hello, Friends!
I wanted to check in just for the sake of checking in. I really wanted to do a post that wasn't so "generic"... but I've sat here and used a lot of time trying to get reacquainted with facebook. (I had deleted my account but realized only tonight that it was still there, just like I left it.. all I had to do was activate it)
Part of revisiting was fun. I mean, it IS a tool for catching/keeping up with friends. However, I found that visiting some of my "friends" made me sad. (Some of the teens) One kid in particular spent a lot of time at our house a few years back.. as sweet and innocent as any child could be. Now? Well, there's use of language that would make a sailor blush.. and pictures of them smoking (and probably drinking) and there's talk about "adult situations" that they really shouldn't be involved in at all. It just makes me sad that this kind of stuff is going on and I SERIOUSLY DOUBT the parents even know it. I mean, WHY aren't we as parents and protectors of our children watching what they're doing??? Okay, I didn't mean to get on a soapbox.. I'm just REALLY VERY disturbed about it all.
Now don't get me wrong.. I know there are a lot of kids that are getting it right. (And I'm NOT trying to say I've never done anything wrong either) I just wish that... well, I wish that innocence wasn't a bad thing. I wish that it was still "cool" to be pure and to present yourself that way.
I can see that this post is going to run in circles... LOL.. maybe I'll come back and try again tomorrow?
On another note... I'm FINALLY making my way around to "catching up" with you all and it's been really nice spending time at YOUR places! I do hope to be a better friend and to be more encouraging to YOU! (You guys have been just AMAZING to me!)
Alrighty.. I think I can hear my little people still talking. I think I need to go and *encourage* them to be quiet and go to SLEEP! ha!!!
Thanks for letting me ramble (or rant?) I'll try make more sense the next time. O=-)

I wondered if you Facebooked. I have looked for you on there before without any luck. I have been a bit surprised too by some of the information I have seen on there, yet in some ways, I have been surprised in a good way...people I didn't know referring to God (as in a personal relationship). I do hope that as a parent (one who won't let her son on FB yet) I will be diligent in watching his behavior...I am constantly searching for models in how I can lead him and guide him in Christ. (Of course, you are one of those) I have enjoyed catching up with you (in between bouts of power loss)...

Good seeing you on facebook! I'm having so much fun over there!
Comforting words! Praying so right now!
1 Corinthians 15:54-57 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I don't do facebook too much, just to accept a friend. I have some of my old students on there and am afraid to look for fear of what I will see. I hear ya.
Hope you are all doing well!
Myspace is really bad too. I had a neighbor whose 14 yr old daughter was on there and she had her age as 21 and some very provocative pictures and language on there. I told her mom about it out of concern but nothing ever changed. I later found out that the mom let her daughter date men in there 20's and even let one move in for a while. Made me sick! I guess this is what happens when God is left out of your life and the computer takes His place. I did meet some really cool kids at the Winter Jam concert that restored my faith in the younger generations though. Hope you get a chance to take your boys, it was a great concert!
I feel your pain/disturbance...my 14 yr old has a facebook...one **I** monitor and have the password for...we monitor her time on the computer and her page as well...our children are our heritage...it is our JOB to protect and direct them...showing them how to make right choices by making our own right choices in front of them and encouraging them to make their own RIGHT choices...reminding them what GOD says and what HE expects...they are our future!
I have used FB and MySpace as a tool to keep in touch with my boys' friends...A lot of kids view the interned as "anonymous," forgetting that people have access to pics, friend lists, etc. It's been a very informative tool! Plus, I have been able to minister to some kids via MySpace when they would never have let me speak to them in person. So...we can use all things to the glory of God...we simply have to CHOOSE to do so!
I'm so glad you're posting again! :o)
Love you
