Random Photos

Hello, Friends!

I don't have a lot to say today, so I thought I'd just post with pictures instead. These were made last week when we took a mini-trip with Link to a little town above Nashville. (Springfield, TN)

I thought this truck was WAAAAAAAAY COOL!

Just in case you're having trouble reading the smaller print on the truck, it says, "JESUS CHRIST IS LORD - NOT A SWEAR WORD."

Sorry the pictures aren't more clear... I took them while we were going down the interstate. O:-)

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by...

With Love,

Thankful Thursday

I've been thinking about having my blog "made over." In searching for "fall photos" I've found some that are very special to me. (They were made while Brent was classified as "No Evidence of Disease") Yes, these bring a SMILE to my face!

So for my post today, I'm VERY THANKFUL to have pictures of ALL 3 of the boys together! I can hardly wait to get my arms around our sweet little man again!

Word-Filled Wednesday

Okay, so I'm a cheater! I know that many of the participants in, "Word FILLED Wednesday," make their own graphics. Well, not me, not today. ☺ I'll be running Zach to the dentist AGAIN and will also be hosting church at our house tonight. (That means I've got LOTS of "tidying up" to do) All of that to say that I'll be "running" all day long. However, I REALLY WANTED to jump back in TODAY! SOOOOO... I decided to "borrow" a graphic with one of my favorite scriptures from online. So here it is.. ☺

If you'd like to see what others are posting today hop on over to Amy Deanne's!

Whoops! I forgot to mention, if you were here yesterday and took down the recipe for the sweet potato bread I made a couple of mistakes. One of which, I corrected mid-morning yesterday. (You need 2 tsp of cinnamon in the bread) The other, was that I failed to say "greased coffee cans." There SHOULD have had an "s" on the end of the word can. I've only made the bread in coffee cans ONCE, so I don't remember exactly how many cans you'll need. I usually make it in the loaf pans) SO SORRY for that mistake!

Brent's Sweet Potato Bread

I chose to share THIS recipe FIRST because it was Brent's FAVORITE bread! I KNOW you'll LOVE it as much as we do!

The photo I chose to use for this recipe was one I found online that most resembles what the bread actually looks like. (The bread in this picture however is NOT Sweet Potato Bread) Those I found online didn't look NEARLY as scrumptious as this one does - and this is TRULY what it will look like! It's SOOOO YUMMY and the scent of your house while it bakes is UNBELIEVABLE!

Sweet Potato Bread

  • 3 1/2 cups sugar

  • 2 tsp Cinnamon

  • 4 eggs

  • 2 tsp. vanilla

  • 3 1/2 cups flour

  • 1 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • 2 cups of cooked and mashed sweet potatoes (I almost ALWAYS cheat and used the canned ones)

  • 1 cup of chopped nuts (if desired - I normally use 2 cups)

Combine sugar, vanilla, oil, potatoes and eggs, mix well. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well and pour into greased 1 pound coffee cans or 4 loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or when a toothpick comes out clean. The mixture nearly doubles in size, be careful not to get baking pans too full. : ) I usually only fill a little over halfway.

(I always grease the inside of the baking pan and "dust" with flour BEFORE adding the mix - it is very likely to stick to the pan if you don't)

"Not Me!" Monday

To fill you in on what we've NOT been doing... O:-)

First, we DIDN'T TOTALLY have an old episode of the Andy Griffith show play out in our living room a few days ago. You know the one, where Barney keeps on, and on, and ON asking Andy if he's mad?? (That'd be Gabe quoting a scripture to Zach about holding in his temper about a THOUSAND times until Zach finally DOES get angry!) Not them! Not me! Not at our house..

And, no, I would NEVER torture dress up my little doggy just because I don't have any girls HERE to dress up. Nope, NOT ME!

I also wouldn't put "smelly good stuff" on her, and bows in her hair, AND buy her little outfits to wear - not me - that'd be just plain silly! You'd NEVER find me doing THAT! (Wait, there's pictures?? WHAT PICTURES??)

You also wouldn't find me spending WAAAYY TOO much time online. I have PLENTY of other IMPORTANT things that need tending to. I'd CERTAINLY NOT be one to waste my time - HA!!! NOPE, NOT ME!

A trip with Daddy

We decided last minute to take a trip with Link.. the first photo is one that was made after the boys had been playing with a couple of little guys they met today. Check out how tired Gabe looks. (And the dirty face!)

Oh, these aren't the best photo quality, they were made with my cell phone

Here's one of our "Little Hulk"

Oh, and I've discovered "Twitter," it's on my sidebar. This way I can make little "mini posts" as often as I'd like. It's kind of described as answering the question, "So, what are YOU doing?" I hope I won't get addicted - I'm already bad about text messaging! O=-)

An evening at the lake

Hello, FRIENDS!

I think I may have mentioned that I was going to post some photos of the boys from the lake? Anyway.. these are from when Link & I took them to Choctaw Lake for a little family photo shoot.

You can probably tell by the bad color/editing that I'm the photographer?? HA! At any rate, we were VERY satisfied with the outcome. I'm still saying that ONE day in the future, when our lives slow down (the boys get older) I'm going to take some classes on photography and photoshop. O:-)

Oh, one last thing.. You probably know this already, but if you "click" on the collage it will enlarge giving you a better view of the pictures. (I apologize for there being so many to look at.. I posted most of the better ones for family - I'm just dragging the rest of you along... HA!!)

Did you notice in the last set that they are eating ICE CREAM?? That was their treat for being good sports while Mom shot well over a hundred pictures. O:-)

I think this was my FAVORITE of the day..

Thankful Thursday

Today, I'm THANKFUL for friends and email!

Isn't it always a blessing to get "something" from a friend?? (I mean, I get ALL EXCITED over comments left on my blog or Brent's caringbridge site, email, and text messages.. It doesn't have to be anything BIG, just any little thing shows they care!) I ESPECIALLY like humorous things - we LOVE to laugh!! :o)

A sweet friend emailed me this.. I thought it was a hoot and thought I'd share. (It kinds reminds me of our house and we only have TWO little people here) HEHEHEHE...

I hope you like it too! =-)

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard; I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour.

This continued off and on for several weeks.

Curious I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:

'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?'

Allie Grace, then a FUN game

Hello, FRIENDS!

I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to keep Allie Grace and that I'd post pictures soon. Well, I've FINALLY got them loaded and ready to share. We ALWAYS have such a BLAST when keeping this little angel. She's a PURE DELIGHT to have around. (She's squealing, babbling a few words, and almost NEVER stops SMILING!)

The first set of pictures are of her "bubble bath." (Don't worry, I had Gabe in there to catch her should she fall back - Oh, and remember, if you click on the collage it'll make the pictures bigger and much easier to see)

The Bubble Bath -

Drying Off...

Sweet, Smiling, Baby!

Now, here's something else to do if you're up for it?

A neat game...

While visiting my new friend, Liz, yesterday, I saw that she had a neat little game to play. So, this is how it works..

By commenting, I received a letter of the alphabet for which to list ten things I love in my life that begin with that letter. When I did this, Liz assigned me the letter, "G."

So here goes...

GOD - HE'S my EVERYTHING (and HIS SON, Jesus, even though HIS name doesn't begin with the letter, "G.") :-)

Gabe - our sweet little 7 (soon to be 8) year old. He's got the most amazing personality and reminds us SO MUCH of Brent!

Grandmas - I MISS MINE SO MUCH!

Gum- Hehe... (I'm already running low on ideas)

Girlfriends - I love my sistas!

Goofy little boys

Giggles from babies and small children

Google, YEAH, I LOVE Google! (That's how I find EVERYTHING quickly!)

"Going" to town with my friends! (Yeah, I know that's a lame one to try to use, but really I'm getting NOTHING here) O:-)

Getting DONE with this list! HA!!!!! (I know, I'm SUCH A CHEATER!)

SO, If you want to play just leave me a comment saying you want to play along and I'll visit you, leaving you your letter. =-)

Have a BLESSED DAY!
