FINALLY, pictures of our work... ;-)

Hello, FRIENDS! These are the "before and after" pictures I've been promising to share. I've had such a hard time deciding which order to load them. For me, it's easier to compare something when I can IMMEDIATELY follow the before with the after. However, some of the pictures were made over time. There was a "before, in-between, and after."

I'm quite the dingbat.. so overlook my lack of organization with these photos. It may not look like a lot has changed, but I assure you.. it was a JOB! My mom & I removed LAYERS AND LAYERS of roots (grass) just to be able to plant in the area around the house. The other little bed was made ABOVE ground because there were electrical wires below. (My sweet hubby warned me of this AFTER I'd already pushed the trellis deep into the ground... LOL!!) Common sense should've told me huh? I mean, the whole point of a bed there was to COVER those ugly boxes on the side our house. HA!!!!!!

As for the actual garden... it's been expanded about 3 times already. It's funny because the only things I have planted are tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, and watermelons. I DO plan to plant flowers to use for the house in there as well.

Okay.. so this is a peek at what we've been doing. Remember, some of it is "a work in progress." Hehehehe..... Oh yea, and if you're wondering.. the yellow fence is an electric fence to keep the dogs out. O;-) Not so pretty, but it does the job.

MANY THANKS to my Mom who's helped do MOST of the work. Thanks to Link's Dad too... he helped me get the garden started. (As if he'd be reading this... LOL!! Still, I don't want to let his work go unrecognized) =-)

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend! I'll look forward to seeing you again soon.

Until next time...

Tonya,

What an accomplishment. I love gardening. I find after I'm done, I'll just go out and stare at my handiwork.

Aren't Mom's the best. That is how my Mom would be also. Ready and willing to help.

I hope it was good therapy and good time you spent with you Mom.

Have a very Blessed weekend!

Hi Tonya,

Wow your work look beautiful. Your home is just spectacular. Here is Southern California we simply don't have land like that. I do wish we did. I think when the kids get out of high school, I will move to a more spacious environment. But for right now, we are here and not going any where. I grew up in Arizona. We had a lot of land. One year, my mom decided to plant a garden. I have such fond memories of that garden. We once grew a zuccini that was 18 inches long and 7 inches wide. IT was huge. We grew green beans I remember as well. I know we had squash and green onions and carrots. Someday I hope to have a garden again. I am glad to see that you are enjoying being outside. All is well here. Adam hurt his back doing something at gymnastics so he is popping advil and laying on an icepack. I turly hope you have a great weekend.

I am SO impressed with you! Your landscaping looks amazing, and the garden...WOW! My dad has a vegetable garden and I LOVE getting the goodies that he works so hard for!
Your house is also so amazing, and the porch and pool...how do you ever leave?! My husband would be so envious of the location...he's a country bumpkin and is dying being trapped in this apartment :)
Thanks for sharing the pics!
Hope you have a great weekend sister!

You did a great job!
I LOVE your house and the beautiful land.
I don't know if I'd be happier sitting on the awesome front porch or in the back by the pool.
My husband has a friend who has a lot of land and ponds. He has his garden out at his house. We love all of those great veggies too.
He brought home onions from the garden the other day and we had onion rings.
Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Everything looks beautiful.
I think of you and pray for you often.
Have a great weekend!
Love,
Valerie

Tonya, I am very impressed. I love the palate you have to work with...that is I love how the sidewalk encases the flower bed. You have done a wonderful job. I LOVE your brick front porch. Your house is gorgeous and of course after seeing the front I dropped my jaw when I saw the oh so beautiful pool. I've always wanted one. Have you lived in this house long, forever? Looks like you have a huge yard to mow.
Love ya,
Paula

Tonya,
I am impressed. My black thumb appreciates your talent. Here I was, proud of myself for keeping a sunflower plant perky for the last month. And all of that stuff you planted in your garden to eat...made me hungry to read about it.

I am sorry that I haven't been checking in lately. Summer vacation has really thrown a wrench in my computer time. I am also making paper dolls to send to our girl in India~so I usually just check email. But I have been missing you!

Love,
Stephanie

You have a beautiful house and the work looks great. I'd give to have a front porch like yours. Gardening watermelons would be so much fun. We don't get very good melons up in the north so I don't bother even trying. Thanks for sharing your pics. I love seeing what others do. Have a great week!

How crazy is this? I cannot believe I came across your blog. It was so good to see your face. My sister has been trying to get me to start a blog for sometime now, I finally got tired of listening to her and started one. I am not computer savoy and am still just trying to figure it all out. I'll be checking in.

Wow!!! You have been on the ball! It looks great!! I love to plant flowers and such. We use to have a 70+ acre farm and boy did we love it. I would like to buy another farm someday when the kids are grown. I miss the garden the most. For now, I just plant my flowers and enjoy them. Things I missed while at the Jude. Take care and keep up the good work girl!!

Blessings......Julie Dietz

Hi! I have been checking in just not signing in. (Which reminds me...I have been meaning to e-mail you and hope to do so this weekend :). I hope your summer is off to a good start. Do you have any trips planned? We are headed to Gulf Shores in a couple of weeks. It is all your fault. You posted those nice pictures last year and I have been determined to go. :) I am looking forward to just relaxing. As much as you can with four kids anyway. I hope things are good!
