March Mission Trip 08, MS Gulf Coast

Okay... so HERE it is! The slide show I've been promising.

Yes, most of our Bible study group (we homechurch now), along with a young couple from another church (and their two boys), and 4 men all headed down to do some work on a home that had damage from Katrina. (The men also worked on another site but I don't have pictures from there) I appears from the pictures above that the ladies didn't work... but I ASSURE YOU, we did! We were up by 4:30 every morning to dress and start breakfast. We cooked for 30 people, 3 times a day, each day (and CLEANED up afterwards). That counts for something doesn't it?? Hehehe... we DID help with the destruction on the first home. Yes, we KNEW our little "wrecking crew" would have some SERIOUS "SKILLS" on THIS job! ;-) HA!!! JUST KIDDING!

Seriously, we had a BLAST... I don't know how it could've been more fun. We all camped out inside a church and spent many hours working together and sharing LOTS of belly laughs. I don't know how people get the idea that Christians are boring?? There is NO GREATER FUN than getting together with other believers in work, fellowship and play!

Now, for the other news I promised....

Link's baby sister Elizabeth (aka.. Aunt Bibby) and her hubby Jason have FINALLY made connection with a couple and have started finalizing the adoption.

YES, baby girl Jenkins is due on March 23! WOO-HOO!!!! After she's born they'll have to wait 72 hours before the adoption is final. PLEASE pray with us that everything from here out will run smoothly? I'm so excited I can hardly stand it, and I'm only an aunt-to-be. I can only imagine what Jason & Elizabeth are feeling. We're just so happy for them!

Okay... there's tons more to tell but I've still got to go and update my son Brent's caringbridge site. Thanks SO MUCH for stopping in!

I love the mission work that you did. I'm up North so it is hard to imagine the devastation that still exists. My sister moved to Mississippi last summer and she assures me it's still not back to normal. How sad. Thanks for the kind words on my page and for your amazing work and spirit. Thinking and praying for your family. Blessings.

i wanted to thank you for the comment you left on my blog. i really appreciate your kind words. sometimes my boyfriend gets frustrated at me because i type things out on my blog instead of talking to him about it--but its almost like i have run through things so many times in my head... that its easier to just type it out than explain it verbally. if that makes sense. maybe because when i am talking--i seem to get myself more worked up!
i am sorry to hear about Brent. i can't imagine what your family has gone through! its encouraging to know that you are still keeping the faith. i have a friend who lost her brother in a car accident 2 years ago next month. she and i actually had a falling out in college and didn't speak for almost 4 yrs. then her brother passed away and i sent her family a card. she contacted me months later and told me that even some of the people she thought were her closest friends didn't even do that much in their time of grief. we have slowly been building our friendship back through email (even though we live in the same small town)... and i am trying to somehow make her feel welcome enough to come to church or some kind of function. i haven't really gotten my foot in the door that far though. i know she believes in God--not sure what she thinks about Jesus (or understands)... but i am praying that she will open her heart. she seems to be so closed in--afraid to get hurt again. with the 2 yr anniversary coming up--i know she'll be stressed by the memories. if you have any thoughts on things i could say that maybe someone said to you, i would appreciate it. i know the situations are different--but losing a loved one is hard no matter what the circumstances.

i am glad to hear about the adoption! that's awesome! its funny because i have been speaking to my friend (the same one who lost the brother) about that lately. she had to have some surgery and isn't sure if she'll be able to have children. i pray that everything goes smoothly - when is the baby due? i so much want to have a family... i guess its all in HIS time!!

Sure looks like you all were a huge blessing to so many. Way to go!!!

And woohoo on the baby. Spring babies bring such blessings. I will pray for the details to go smoothly.

You have a beautiful family!!

I'd love to hear more about how you do home church! Public worship services have been really hard for us since we lost our daughter. We've been talking about other things that might work for us, so I was just curious.
