Tuesday's In Other Words

Oh, this is a BEAUTIFUL quote that my friend Susan chose for today. It does seem that the more I know about GOD, the more I find how much more there is to learn. We sometimes try to put HIM in this nice little box and if HE works outside those "lines" well, we don't know what to do with HIM. That's how it was for me when we lost Brent.

See, we'd been told that if we "believed" enough and didn't doubt that Brent would be healed. Well, when he wasn't I blamed myself and began to question everything I've ever been told about GOD. (Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing) I've dug so much deeper in HIS WORD, and I looked at things from a new perspective. I NO LONGER trust every little thing that someone else tells me about GOD. I "test" it against the WORD.

The more I've questioned, the more answers I've found - the MORE I want to know.

One thing I've learned is about witnessing. I've always been afraid to share the gospel because I thought I wasn't "trained" enough in the WORD. I've learned that there is no formula.

  • All I have to do is tell others what JESUS has done for me.

  • I need to share that HE is my EVERYTHING - that I can't go on without HIM

  • I should share how HE died for my sins and yours..

  • I should also share that JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY. There is NO OTHER NAME under HEAVEN. (Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other Name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved.")

  • The Bible says we should believe and confess. (Romans 10:8-10 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.)

THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY to get to HEAVEN but there are MANY ways to share the gospel. There are MANY ways to reach others. You don't HAVE to "take them to church" with you to lead others to Christ. If we follow our LORD'S example we would meet people where they are. (In the grocery store, at McDonald's, as we work along side them)

YES, our GOD is WAY TOO BIG for our little human minds to wrap around! We may not always understand HIS ways, but we can take comfort in knowing that HIS WAY IS BEST.

Until the return of CHRIST, we should be BUSY LIVING OUR LIVES as though JESUS HIMSELF is walking beside us EVERY MOMENT, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY... because HE IS.

Hey Tonya,

This was so good, and so TRUE. Yes, we all are guilty of putting God in that "box" at some time in our lives.

I love the way God has used your questioning and your pain to draw you closer to HIM.

As a result your testimony is changing so MANY lives and what other's think about God. (praise God!)

Thanks for being such a witness in my life. Your boldness, your hunger and your passion for Jesus rekindled my fire years ago.

No turning back now!

Love you, and thanks for participating today♥

Hello, I wanted to introduce myself. I found your blog through Mommyology. I've been reading here awhile this morning and wanted to thank you for the strength I've found in your words, and your sharing of His word. I have two little girls, and my youngest (13 months) has Leigh's Disease. Initially we were mis-diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Thank you for sharing your story, as a mother going through something so similar it is so good to find others who have gone down this road with a child. I would love the opportunity to link to your blog, so many of our family who read mine could benefit from your words. http://josieandme.blogspot.com/

I love how this quote inspired you to write a post about witnessing. Your sentence about "Living our lives as though Jesus Himself is walking beside us every moment" really stood out to me. I'm going to think about that this week. This could really change the way that I live my life.

Hi, Tonya. I love this post... such true words you have spoken. I like how you talked about "meeting people where they are". This is one of many things that I find to be so great about God... HE MEETS US EXACTLY WHERE WE ARE. No matter where that may be... HE IS THERE! What better witness can we be than to do the same with the people we encounter everyday but MEET THEM WHERE THEY ARE. How we live our lives -- our actions, our words -- sometimes are a much greater witness of God's wonderful, redeeming love than any amount of sitting in church services. Not that church is bad... oh, no... but for those that have never been to church or have had bad experiences, that just isn't always the way to go at the beginning. We've got to meet them in THEIR comfort zone and "get things started".

Thanks so much for your insightful words!

Have a great day in the Lord!

Oh I dislike it terribly when the computer eats my comments!!!! Thanks for the wonderful words of truth! There is only one place to go when we have questions, and that is God and His word! We humans get our feelings in the way far to often!

Hey Woman,
I would never doubt that you are strong in the Word. You have inspired me and taught me many times over. I have had that same fear of not being adequately prepared! When I read your post, it reminded me of a conversation that I had last week with one of my aunts. She thought that the account of Jesus with the fish and loaves was a parable. I have told you before that I am NOT a Bible expert, but an answer came to me that I couldn't have come up with on my own. I calmly explained that when Jesus talked in parables, he used vague references like "A man", but the story of the fishes was specifically attributed to Jesus himself. I was amazed at the conviction that came with that statement. This wasn't something that I have ever given much thought to at all. I just think maybe God gives us what we need in order to reach others. I am so glad that He thinks OUTSIDE the box when I feel trapped!

Thanks for posting this, Tonya! You have an amazing story and it is reaching people's hearts. You go, girl!
