Brent's Sweet Potato Bread

I chose to share THIS recipe FIRST because it was Brent's FAVORITE bread! I KNOW you'll LOVE it as much as we do!

The photo I chose to use for this recipe was one I found online that most resembles what the bread actually looks like. (The bread in this picture however is NOT Sweet Potato Bread) Those I found online didn't look NEARLY as scrumptious as this one does - and this is TRULY what it will look like! It's SOOOO YUMMY and the scent of your house while it bakes is UNBELIEVABLE!

Sweet Potato Bread

  • 3 1/2 cups sugar

  • 2 tsp Cinnamon

  • 4 eggs

  • 2 tsp. vanilla

  • 3 1/2 cups flour

  • 1 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • 2 cups of cooked and mashed sweet potatoes (I almost ALWAYS cheat and used the canned ones)

  • 1 cup of chopped nuts (if desired - I normally use 2 cups)

Combine sugar, vanilla, oil, potatoes and eggs, mix well. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well and pour into greased 1 pound coffee cans or 4 loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or when a toothpick comes out clean. The mixture nearly doubles in size, be careful not to get baking pans too full. : ) I usually only fill a little over halfway.

(I always grease the inside of the baking pan and "dust" with flour BEFORE adding the mix - it is very likely to stick to the pan if you don't)

tonya,
yes, i do go to the church that has made the movies. And let me tell you what an awesome experience that has been. I never knew what blessings my family would get through one simple act of obedience in going there.
And I just read your story and must say I am wiping away my tears. I can not imagine going through that. My oldest is 7 and loves to play flag football.
Sometimes it is so hard to make it to the gift... when the packaging the Lord puts it in is so rough.
The movie is wonderful. I have seen it 2x and it just got better the 2nd time I watched it. Even if you don't have a "troubled" marriage, the movie was full of things that we ALL need to hear!
Sorry the comment was so long :)

I should probably amend my comment.

SOME women can drive a dozer with no problem. SOME men can work in a kitchen with no problem.

THIS man is going to sign off before he gets himself in trouble. (I am definitely outnumbered).

Hi Tonya!
Nice to meet you, too! I found you through Amazing Jacob's site and have been praying for y'all and keeping up with y'all for a while now. Yep, we are neighbors, we even come to mathiston to play baseball in the summer with Patrick. The sweet potato bread looks fabulous. I definitely will have to try!

They get about 12 inches tall at the shoulder. The girls will probably we a little shorter, and we are asking $150.00 for them.

i would love to try this recipe... if only i could have bread right now, or sweet potatoes!
there is a line in the movie that says
FIREPROOF DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE FIRE WILL NEVER COME. ONLY THAT WHEN IT DOES YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND IT.
so often we tend to focus on our circumstances instead of the Creator of our circumstances. We tend to forget that our trials are for two reasons. 1-they are to build our character and make us stronger 2-they are for others. Our trials are meant for others. For us to be there for others and show them the love of Christ in a way that no one else will understand because we share an experience.
